Submission Process

If you're interested in hybrid publishing and would like to explore the possibility of a partnership with OC Publishing to publish your book, please review the following guidelines before contacting us.

Make sure your book fits one of the genres we publish:

  • Mystery/Suspense
  • Memoir
  • Historical Fiction
  • Women's Fiction
  • Young Adult (YA)
  • Children's Picture Books
  • First Chapter Books

Ensure that you have at least 2-3 chapters of your book written to send for review and consideration. Or, if you are interested in writing mentoring (from story idea to chapter outline, through to finished manuscript), make note of that in your query.

Prepare a synopsis of the story-line to include with your query.

If it's a children's picture book and you have an illustrator in mind you'd like to work with, please mention that in your query and be prepared to share a sample illustration.

To begin the process, send a query with your name, email address, the genre of your book, a short synopsis (2-3 paragraphs), who the audience is for your book, and whether or not your manuscript is complete.

Please read the following before submitting:

OC Publishing is a hybrid/partner publisher, which is a fee to publish model. A breakdown of costs will be sent once it is mutually determined between the author and publisher that there is an interest in partner publishing your book.

The average cost is anywhere between $3,000 and $6,000. This will include all editing and design, title set up and distribution for both print and ebook. The cost will depend on things such as the length of the manuscript, how much editing is required, the complexity of the cover and interior design, the number of illustrations (for a children's book), and if there is original art commissioned, for example.

All costs are discussed upfront before the process begins.

Please note that our publishing calendar is full for 2022 so we are currently reviewing manuscripts for 2023/24.
